Why Service Learning?
You might hear of service learning as it relates to college or school settings. This is very true. Academic programs are becoming more and more innovative, seeing the value of connecting classroom learning to real life experiences as part of the curriculum and pedagogy.
Some service learning is required for students to graduate, either from high school or college. The goal is often to explore career interests and take part in a meaningful life experience that expands a young person’s personal and professional growth.
Others see service learning as an opportunity to combine travel and volunteering; immersing themselves directly in the culture by spending time with the people of that geographic region in a structured, helpful way.
Whatever your reasons for committing to a service learning project, we hope you engage yourself in the many available opportunities either here or abroad.
