“A scholar is committed to building on knowledge others have gathered, correcting it, confirming it and enlarging it”
Parker J. Palmer
Service learning without self-reflection and education is not service learning. The Saints & Scholars, Inc. program offers a unique, comprehensive curriculum providing our participants the training necessary to grow from this experience and to support community partnerships, This education is part of our programming and accompanies the service projects.
Our 30 hour service learning programs include global citizenship and intercultural helping skills training, unpacking our service work experiences through personal and professional reflection, and career mentorship. These service projects are valuable contributions not only to our larger community but also to developing necessary skill sets within ourselves.
Before engaging with a community partnership, our members need to be aware of cultural differences, strengths and needs before working in a leadership roles. Developing this awareness and sensitivity only improves our interpersonal communication skills, not only at Saints & Scholars, but in the world we live in.
Participants will also set personal and professional goals; exploring careers and utilizing our resources to assist in planning for their future. Our Saints & Scholars, Inc. staff are trained in providing career mentorship to both teens and young adults.
Joining our Patreon will provide teens and young adults the opportunity to access weekly curriculum to help them reflect upon their strengths, growing edges, interest areas, identity and possible career goals. For a basic membership level, our Patreon offers such programming for self-awareness.
Through a higher tier membership, we offer podcasts focused on career paths, VIP blogs including art reflection activities to help with a young person’s identity and goal development.
Our highest Patreon tier also offers remote service learning opportunities. Members who engage at this level can submit their work for assessment through Saints & Scholars, Inc. staff. Your school would need to approve first, but often students are able to engage in such projects and meet the service learning or even internship requirements for their high school or college setting.
